"In our own time, in a world often alien and even hostile to faith, believing families are of primary importance as centers of living, radiant faith. For this reason the Second Vatican Council, using an ancient expression, calls the family the Ecclesia domestica. It is in the bosom of the family that parents are 'by word and example . . . the first heralds of the faith with regard to their children...Thus the home is the first school of Christian life." +CCC 1656, 1657
Have you been entrusted by God with raising children? Then you are the ecclesia domestica—the "domestic church." At St. Anselm, we can help you fulfill this special and critical commission through our Parish School of Religion. If your children do not attend Catholic schools, we invite your family to enroll in PSR for weekly faith formation and preparation to receive sacraments. Here is some helpful information about our PSR program. What grades does PSR incorporate? PSR is for all students in grades 1 through 10 who need faith formation. Students in 11th grade enter Confirmation formation.
Each grade level of PSR is foundational for the following year. Students should attend PSR throughout elementary, middle, and high school in order to enter our Confirmation formation program in their junior year of high school. Click here for Confirmation registration and information.
After Confirmation, students are invited to continue their personal faith formation through parish activities, events, and ministries like our youth ministry, the CYO-sponsored March for Life and Disney trips, young adult pilgrimages to France and Rome, and more. We also hope our Confirmed young parishioners will become active in liturgical ministry, music ministry, parish social events, and volunteer service. When does PSR begin and conclude?
